Well Finale and the final EWS of the year just concluded a blinder of a World Series campaign. It was tough! Up and downs all year. Or up and then down.
Finale didn’t start well and I was glad to finish the race at the end of the weekend. During stage 1 I was going well. Catching my 30 second man 3 times before finally passing him. One crash, about to pass before another stupid crash. Then my 3rd crash resulting in a split helmet. I was lucky. Thanks fox for providing a great peice of kit. Looking back I was probably suffering from some concussion but seemed ok and didn’t have any issues.
The rest of the race didn’t go well though. Was back on my usual placings, I wasn’t quite right. A puncture from the top of a stage pushed my patience but it was vital to persevere. It got to stage 5, then 5 and it was all about getting through the final stage. What a feeling. A long season, a long and punishing race and a sense of real achievement. While it wasn’t perfect during the year I took away so much from the season. I found my strengths, my weaknesses and it was the first year I definitely figured out what performance and success really meant.
Keep an eye out for an article on Wideopenmag soon. I delve into my views on performance through my experience in 2017.
Cheers to all my sponsors this year and anyone involved in allowing me to push towards the top ranks in Enduro.
